The scene, depicted in the early 1900’s, is of the historic Firehouse in “Old Town” Auburn, California, immediately after a Christmas Eve snowfall. I was inspired to paint this landmark while traveling through old town one evening with my Chris. While observing the old Firehouse silhouetted by the brilliant light of the stately courthouse on the hill behind it, I began to meditate on the encouragement found in Psalm 4, verses 6-8:

“Lift up the light of Thy countenance upon us, O LORD! Thou has put gladness in my heart… In peace I will both lie down and sleep, For Thou alone, O LORD, dost make me to dwell in safety.”

I was further inspired by the words from I John, Chapter 1, verse 5, which states:

“And this is the message we have heard from Him and announce to you, that God is light, and in Him there is no darkness at all.”

The Bible clearly states that those who lack God's peace and security need to be introduced to the Lord Jesus Christ, the "True Light". They have a dark, spiritual void within them crying out to be filled with His brilliant countenance. To no avail, they attempt to fill this void in their lives with the activities and temporal things of the world. In John's Gospel, Chapter 8, verse 12, Jesus said:

“I am the light of the world; he who follows Me shall not walk in the darkness, but shall have the light of life.”

We hope you enjoy your print. As you view it, we ask you to remember us in prayer as we minister to those who have yet to begin a personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ. It is my prayer that all who look upon this print will come to know our Lord Jesus more fully. May they dwell in His safety and experience His peace, while Joyfully walking in His marvelous light

“How blessed are the people who know the joyful Sound! O Lord, they walk in the light of Thy countenance.” -- (Psalm 89:15)

With grateful Love in the Lord Jesus Christ, who lights our paths and offers to all the free gift of Eternal Life,
